Col Hugh Brown Obituary

Col. Hugh Brown, son of Hugh Brown and Mary Buie, married Catherine Fort.  He served in the Revolutionary War and the North Carolina General Assembly (1800-1814), after which he moved to Maury County Tennessee.

Several letters written by Col. Hugh Brown's son, John Brown, to William H. Brown, son of Neill Brown (Robeson County, North Carolina) his cousin, give rich family insight into the life of Col. Hugh Brown and his impact on the community in Maury County, Tennessee.

The first letter is regarding the death of Catherine Fort Brown in 1838.
